Seminars & special events
All seminars are free of charge and are held on Saturday mornings at 10 am unless otherwise specified. Hands-on workshops are held periodically; a fee is charged for these since you’ll be taking the finished product home with you. To reserve your space in a workshop, call 636-7662.
July 3, 5 & 6—Our annual “One-Fourth” sale! 25% off all plants—including trees, shrubs, vines, houseplants, annuals, and perennials! “Cash” and carry only (no deliveries, though we do accept personal checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express). This sale offer is for plants in stock only; no rainchecks or special orders. (Note: We’ll be closed Friday, July 4; there will be no seminar on Saturday, July 5 since the “one-fourth” sale will be in progress.)
July 12—Rain barrel workshop. Back by popular demand! Representatives from the Brevard County Natural Resource Department will discuss the benefits of rain barrels and demonstrate how to make one yourself. A $35 workshop fee covers all materials needed to make your own rain barrel; call to reserve your space.
July 19—The benefits of bats in the garden. With the movie “Batman” opening this week, it’s a great time to learn about bats. Find out how to attract bats to your yard and watch your mosquito population dwindle. Make your own bat house for $50 (all materials supplied) or take home one pre-made for $65. Call ahead to reserve your space and to place your order. This session will be led by Merrideth and Rand Compton.
July 26—Dispelling myths about trees. Certified arborist Walt Roslan will discuss how through proper care we can increase the health of trees and make them resistant to storm damage. Current research has revolutionized the way we think about and care for trees and is dispelling common practices, theories, and myths that can lead to tree disease and failure.
