Butterfly gardens should be designed in a quiet, undisturbed location within view of your home.
Full sun is best. Butterflies are cold-blooded and need sunlight for warmth. Also, keep in mind that you cannot use pesticides when gardening for butterflies, so place your butterfly garden away from areas that are sprayed.
You will need two types of plants for your butterfly garden: nectar plants for the adult butterflies and host plants for the caterpillar stage of the butterfly.
See the printable care guide for more information on creating a butterfly garden in your Florida landscape.
