Tibouchina, which is otherwise known as the Princess Flower, is a large-growing evergreen shrub that produces masses of purple flowers during the warm months of the year.
Planting: The tibouchina grows well in a variety of soils, although best growth and flowering can be expected when plants are set in well-drained, improved soil in full- to half-day sun.
Fertilizing: The tibouchina should be fertilized during the growing season. In March and September, use Espoma Holly-Tone and apply ½ to 1 cup of fertilizer for each plant, distributing lightly over the entire root area.
Root Rot: Fungus caused by poor drainage and excess moisture around the roots. Plants will decline and usually die from this disease.
