Those born between July 23rd and August 22nd are lucky enough to be one of the most vibrant and fun signs out there: the Leo.
A fire sign that shows its flames, Leos are known for being confident, loud, and proud. Both sun and fire play a role in the types of plants that are best suited to feisty Leos.
Astrology states that Leo is ruled by both the sun and the lion, with the latter applying to the heart. As such, plants that feature heart-shaped leaves and bright sunny hues of yellow and orange are right up Leo’s alley.
Houseplants for Leos
Hoyas (Hoya sp.)
With their heart-shaped leaves, hoyas are a natural choice for the lion-ruled Leo.
Hoyas are also rather forgiving and easy to care for. Your Leo will be able to make all their social commitments and still have a fantastic houseplant with ease.
Anthurium (Anthurium sp.)
Beautifully bright and known as the heart of Hawaii, anthuriums have long been loved for their assertive color and strong presence, making them a perfect match for Leos.
Philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum)
Philodendrons offer up many variations in color and size.
All feature heart-shaped leaves which will satisfy a Leo’s lion ruler.
Edible Plants for Leos
Pineapple (Ananas comosus)
Bright, cheery, and oh-so-delicious pineapples scream “summertime”, aka Leo season.
Citrus (Citrus spp.)
Sunny citrus helps keep Leos in good company with their sun ruler.
Oranges, lemons, and limes also happen to be essential for summertime entertaining and ensuring your Leo gets their vitamin C in.
Corn ( Zea mays)
Corn might not be the first thing you think of when you think of Florida summer, but sweet corn can be grown throughout the state. Its sunny yellow color and bbq status make it essential for the ultimate Leo summer.
Sweet Peppers (Capsicum)
These fruits (yes fruits) come in green, yellow, and orange and brighten up a salad unlike anything else.
They also happen to be tolerant of our humid summers, making them a must for any Florida garden.
Flowers for Leo
Marigolds (Tagetes sp.)
The sunniest of all the flowers, marigolds pull their weight in the garden, warding off pests and bringing in beneficial insects.
Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata)
Leos are among the most passionate signs, so a passionflower is a go-to.
The amazing, almost unworldly bloom makes a great gift for any sign but is in the best company with a Leo.
Sunflower (Helianthus sp.)
It goes without saying. Have fun with this one and choose exotic colors and various sizes to make your garden pop.
Consider gifting seeds, as they are so easy to grow on your own.
Dahlia (Dahlia pinnatus)
If your Leo is not an orange and yellow fan, consider dahlias.
Coming in every color imaginable, even dark shades, it’s one of the most versatile wildflowers you can buy.
Whatever plant you choose, plants that personify Leos are bright and confident and will become the focal point of whatever space they are in, whether indoors or out.
